Replacing Water Pipes 24 October 30 October Arlington and Polegate areas
Chalvington with Ripe Parish Council
Message from SE Water:
As you may already know, we are working to replace burst-prone water pipes in your area, which have burst six times in the last five years. This has resulted in low water pressure or no water for you or your neighbours.
We’re sorry this happened; it’s not acceptable. We’re always working to reduce the number of leaks and bursts we have. With this in mind, we’re going to be making some improvements to the water network in your community.
We’re replacing around 3.3 kilometres of water pipes in the Arlington and Polegate areas.
The project started in Tye Hill Road on Monday, 19 January 2026, with work also taking place in Caneheath earlier this year.
We have laid more than 1.65 kilometres of new pipeline to date and we have a further section of work to complete in the Wilbees Road area.
We have now started work on the next phase of the project, to lay around 1.45 kilometres of pipeline in Wilbees Road and The Street.
Work started on this phase yesterday (Monday, 10 August, 2026) and the following rolling road closures have been agreed with East Sussex Highways:
- Closure of Wilbees Road, from the junction with Bayleys Lane to the junction with The Street.
- Closure of The Street, from the junction with Wilbees Road to outside Corner House.
We're sorry for the disruption this will cause. We'll work as quickly as possible to complete this work, although we will be demobilising for one week from Saturday, 24 October until Friday, 30 October.
This is at the request of East Sussex Highways, due to other works in the area at that time.
